Overview of Courses

We are thrilled to be able to offer full-time learning in the coming academic year. In 2023, Pacific Online Christian School will deliver years 7-12 learning.

Pacific Online Christian School (via Pacific Coast Christian School) implements the Australian Curriculum as articulated through the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA).

Each course is fully accredited through NESA, ultimately allowing our young people to work toward their Higher School Certificate accreditation. We understand that many learners are on different pathways, and we will document and plan each student’s learning journey according to their desired goals.

Students will complete learning activities with the same indicative course times. Distance education students will access learning activities using synchronous and asynchronous contact with their peers and teacher. This could mean a minor delay between the delivery of on-campus content and distance learning content (not during residential sessions). This will enable teachers to post recorded learning content on CANVAS (Learning management system) for distance students.

Junior Secondary
Years 7-10

As students transition from Primary to Secondary school, they are presented with more opportunities and choices as they move towards their final years of schooling into post-school life. These are the years where they become more independent, being further equipped, and empowered to make learning choices. Therefore, a rich and diverse range of subjects to choose from, as well as being nurtured holistically, is very important to us at Pacific Online Christian School.

The ROSA is a cumulative credential, meaning it contains a student’s record of academic achievement up until the date they leave school. This could be between the end of Year 10 up until and including some results of Year 12.

To offer appropriate Mathematics levels students in Year 9 & 10 are further delineated to run the THREE Mathematics levels 5.1/5.2 (Standard) & 5.3 (Advanced).

Online learning students will complete a personal interest project (PIP) that will require a systemic investigation and subsequent analysis. Online students will be required to present a project proposal to the Director of Pacific Online Christian School for approval. Students will also engage regularly with the careers team to ensure that their project is focused on future planning and skill development. Students also have the option to complete a VET course or alternate training modules in lieu of their PIP as approved by the Director of Pacific Online Christian School. Senior Secondary
Years 11-12

The students in Senior Secondary are in their final years of education. We offer a large range of elective choices in Stage 6 (Year 11 & 12) courses, as well as the mandatory subjects in line with NESA mandatory requirements. It is a time of great anticipation, opportunity, and responsibility. These two years significantly impact the career opportunities that they will have in the future.

Our program is designed to prepare them for the rigours and pressures of the HSC examinations whilst providing a balance that will prepare them as a whole person for engagement in life beyond school.

The purpose of this stage of schooling is to provide the appropriate pathway for students to recognise their gifts and talents in relation to future pursuits. To this end, it is imperative that teachers, students and families work in unison to achieve the best possible outcomes.

It is important for students to make the most of the opportunities that are available to them. Accordingly, students at Pacific Online Christian School will be expected to apply themselves consistently to their learning.

Our senior students study their Preliminary and HSC courses within a 2 year period. All students studying for the Higher School Certificate must successfully complete 12 units for the Preliminary Course and at least 10 units of study for the Higher School Certificate. Both courses must include 2 units of English: either English Standard or English Advanced.

  • With English as the only mandated course to be studied students are able to make up their loading selecting from a variety of elective courses, external education providers and/or TVET courses
  • In order to qualify for the credential of HSC students are to study a minimum of 10 units as outlined by NESA as board developed/approved courses

We strive to offer our distance students access to a wide range of senior courses.
